
The raised bed worked well for our carrots this year. We have enjoyed being able to run out and pick them whenever the mood for carrots strikes. And a plus, I don’t have to figure out where to keep them in the frig which is always short on space.

As it is the first year for the blackberries, ripe berries are few and far between. We huddle around them like squirrels around a nut in winter and shrewdly guard the bush from birds. We’ll need to transplant the bush this fall; we choose its location poorly and it has already outgrown its bed.
