Chalotte Mason Notes

Planning:now and then

This phrase "you not them" is from the TJ Ed philosophy of learning. I have been applying it in our CM education at home but am learning from my readings of Volume 2 of Charlotte Mason's books that Mason taught a variation of this concept as well.

Copywork and Commonplacing

A major component to a CM education is nature study and the out-of-door life of the student. Science for the younger years is nature study and CM recommended afternoons outdoors for children during all kinds of weather. She trained the habit of observations and used narrations while outside to refine and strengthen the habit of attention. You can read CM writing on the subject here.

Teaching a child to read, one method. And on determining reading readiness.
