A closet is much like a child. Left to its own devises, it becomes unruly and eventually downright defiant. But given a constant, gentle hand it kindly responds with respect and orderliness. In theory.
Let me consider briefly all the non-wardrobe items in my closet that shouldn’t be:
One fairy dress complete with wings
One rubber duck that quacks when you step on it
One colors and shapes baby toy
Miscellaneous books, picture and otherwise
One pink sleeping bag
Writing utensils of all types
One large box of heterogeneous items belonging to my eldest child
One vacuum cleaner
Various children’s artwork, stories, notes and notebooks
I dream of a perpetually clean and organized closet with only the clothes that I love and need neatly hung or stacked. The wardrobe is so simple and exact that it’s a snap to maintain and I can always find something appropriate to wear. All items would flatter my post-baby figure beautifully, in colors that compliment my coloring and hang perfectly on my unique form, hiding all figure flaws. This closet would also contain a small selection of well-made, classic shoes and a few well-chosen accessories to compliment each ensemble. And don’t forget the ideal purse – just one of perfect size, made of magical, chamaeleon like leather that flawlessly matches all my shoes and belts and stretches or shrinks in size as needed.
Yes, I have a dream.
