Always with good books, the best we can find

"Our business is to give him mind-stuff, and both quality and quantity are essential. Naturally, each of us possesses this mind-stuff only in limited measure, but we know where to procure it; for the best thought the world possesses is stored in books; we must open books to children, the best books; our own concern is abundant provision and orderly serving." A Philosophy of Education, Volume 6, Charlotte M. Mason
I keep a file folder on my desk labeled "Books to Read". When I hear a title in conversation, from a sermon, or referenced in my reading, I jot it down and add the scrap of paper to my folder for later research. Some titles will be added to the book shelf. Some of them may be out of print or hard to find. Some won't make the cut. But it is my aim to put before us the best literature possible. Some of the books on my TBR list:

The Amazing Story of Creation by Duane Gish

Gathering Blue and The Messenger by Lois Lowry (companion to The Giver)

The White Deer by James Thurber

Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St. John

The Light Princess by George MacDonald
