Lace

I switched to a fine tatting thread which is a lot like a heavy quilting thread, if you can imagine. My first attempt at a snowflake was a miserable failure so I moved on to this simple lace. This piece is only 5.5" long. I'm getting better: I can "reverse work" and work the chains with the ball thread and the rings with the shuttle thread, but I'm still a little flustered working the joins and keeping the picots even. I haven't figured how one would attach this to linens to make a lace edging, how to work with two shuttles to make split rings or other marvelous things yet unknown, or how to add beads. But all good things in time. The girls are begging me to try but I can't find my second shuttle (uh, Charlie?) and I'm not ready to give this one up yet.
