Maddie wrote me this note when I was out this week. I cried when I read it.She started writing spontaneous notes and little poems and stories this summer since we've been doing her eye therapy. I think I mentioned that she's way behind on her visual memory so her spelling is very phonetic right now. But this was a long note she wrote for me! And to tell me that she likes school is what put me over the top.
Let me tell you that she and I have been through the fire together this past year and I've had more than a little guilt over pushing her so hard not knowing, and therefore, not addressing her vision issues. She was giving me everything she could and wanted to please me so much and as a result, she has learned to read in spite of being able to focus her eyes clearly for only short periods of time (2-3minutes and then she shut down as she had reached a point of exhaustion).
Now I finally see her reading on her own, asking me how to spell things, sounding out words, and enjoying books. Praise God!
Translation of Maddie's note:
To: Mom
From: Madison
I miss you since you left. Tell Daddy that I love him too. And I love you too. And I hope I get to do school because I like to do school. And I hope you like to teach us school too. But I do not teach school. I love you and you.
