Miscellany

Thanks to my generous neighbors (that are probably considering a restraining order at this point), I've got my computer back up and running. Here's hoping I don't mess it up!

Maddie's eye therapy is going well. She's functioning at normal levels and using both eyes together. However, she experiences significant eye fatigue quickly so we're still working our therapy sessions at home every day for a few more weeks. Since she's not been able to see at all well for so long she doesn't have the back log of visual memory of the English language which boosts reading skills and moves one past the phonetic spelling stage (you know all those words in the English language that break all the rules?), so we're doing a lot of reading and detailed copywork to help her mind identify patterns in the English language and get her to the fully independent stage.

School is going well in general. We're all learning to work more quietly and respectfully during "school hours" so as to optimize our school time. Maya is beginning to read. Makenna is largely working independently and has become Maya's math tutor while I work with Maddie. Charlie still moves in and out but mostly likes to work alongside his sisters--building towers with the math blocks or coloring while they work.

On the down side, my house is a big mess. I still struggle keeping the house picked up and clean as we live in the house 24/7. It's a rare thing that the entire house is presentable... as I get one area under control the mess moves to another location. Weird, huh?
