In case you haven't heard...

...we're going to start homeschooling the kids after Thanksgiving. Our decision is not a result of a particular incident or a direct reflection of how we feel about Marysville schools. We have been so happy with Mill Valley and the kids have had very good experiences with the teachers! Our basic reasons for homeschooling are tri-fold:

1. We want to be the primary influence in our children’s life, to guide character building, and provide them with a Christian Education.

2. We will be able to provide an individualized, accelerated learning plan that challenges and stretches; adapt their learning opportunities to their learning needs; provide in depth study of special interests limited only by the time constraints we place on ourselves; and provide in-depth focus on areas of academic need.

3. We desire a close relationship with our children and with shift work sometimes the kids miss seeing Steve for a few days in a row. Steve will be switching shifts to Seconds and will be home in the morning to help with the academics. He'll have an active role in teaching subjects such as history, civics, social studies, geography, science and mathematics. (Uh, isn't that everything? Well, not quite.)

Steve and I have done a lot of research about homeschooling. The opportunities are limitless and the challenges are too! The kids are excited and have been bugging me to start their curriculum for a few weeks now. I can't wait to see where this new path leads and what exceptional people the kids will become (if we don't mess this up, that is).

two things:

1) are you two insane??!!

2) i'm jealous, no lie i'm a rank two because public schools weren't enough and even then i was still bored like right now i'm taking 17 credit hours and am so incredibly bored! homeschooling definately lets the education match the person and will be very good for them because they will never be bored but you all may get sick of seeing eachother so much

Don't you want to babysit? I see that as a solution for both problems -- your bordem and our cabin fever. :-)
